Prom Dress 2023

I made this dress with the help of Lydia Merritt and Fern Revel. Fern created the initial design and Lydia helped me through the steps of making the dress. We took measurements, discussed design adjustments, and found the final fabric first. We made paper patterns of the pieces we would need. We made a draft dress out of a cheaper fabric to draw seam allowance and do a fitting to see what changes were necessary. Then, we cut and used the draft dress to figure out sizing for the final dress and started cutting and draping the final fabric on the mannequin. We cut the fabric on a bias to help with the wavy effect on the hem. We did another fitting to check how she wanted the slit to look as well as checking sizing again, especially for the waist straps. Then, we added a lining and bra cups on the top, sewed and serged everything, and did one more fitting to make sure everything was satisfactory in fit and look.
